A FREE, hands-on car care clinic for new drivers, first-time vehicle owners and parents.
Knowing how to drive is only part of owning a car.
What happens when a warning light comes on? How do you know if your tire pressure is right? Where do you check the oil? And what are you supposed to do when the car won't start?
Those are the kinds of things we want our new drivers to know before they're stuck on the side of the road calling Mom or Dad. 😉
Car Care Basics is a community workshop hosted right here at Harbour Automotive. We'll get out into the shop, open some hoods and give participants a chance to actually learn and practice basic vehicle-care skills with us.
No automotive experience needed. No sales pitch. Just useful information every vehicle owner should know.

9:00 AM – 10:30 AM

FREE • Registration Required • Limited to 15 Participants
Parents are encouraged to stay and participate!

We want you under the hood—not sitting through an hour-long class.
Participants will work with real vehicles in our service bays while learning directly from automotive professionals.
You'll have the opportunity to ask questions, try things yourself and become more comfortable with the vehicle you depend on every day.
And don't worry if you know absolutely nothing about cars.
That's exactly why we're doing this.
As a mom of three teen drivers and the owner of Harbour Automotive, I've realized my kids have an advantage most new drivers don't.
They have a mom who works in the automotive industry and a dad who's an ASE Master Technician.
As their friends started getting their own cars, they also started coming to us with questions—What does this light mean? Is this noise normal? What should I check? What do I do if...?
It made us realize just how many young drivers are handed the keys without ever being taught how to actually take care of the vehicle they're driving.
So we decided to do something about it.
Car Care Basics gives local new drivers and their families a comfortable place to learn those things, ask questions and get some hands-on experience—completely free.
To keep the clinic truly hands-on, each session is limited to 15 participants.
That gives everyone an opportunity to get around the vehicles, practice what we're teaching and ask questions instead of getting lost in a large group.
If a clinic fills up, don't worry—we plan to continue offering Car Care Basics throughout the year.
Parents - you are invited to stay, ask questions and hopefully learn something useful too!
